Why to consider us.

With the ever-decreasing costs of digital cameras there's a lot more so called wedding photographers these days. They have full time jobs and mainly do it for fun. They buy a camera today and tomorrow they advertise themselves as "professional photographers" in the classifieds. Any person with very little experience can take a fair picture which is in focus and looks good to most people but that's where it ends. Many factors such as lighting and composition makes a good picture great!  

What will happen if their camera fails? Do they have backup equipment? We know of weddings where the "official photographer" had to use one of the guests' cameras to complete the shoot... Hobbyists normally don't have backup cameras since they don't constantly invest in equipment like professional photographers do.  

Think on this for a moment... When your wedding day is over and every one went home, the cake, food and great looking venue and tables are gone forever - never to be repeated again... The flowers are dead and the dress is back at the bridal shop or in a box... All that's left of you're wedding day afterwards is your wedding pictures...  Are you really willing to hand over that kind of responsibility to one of these photographers? We wouldn't...  

Our clients pride themselves in their wedding pictures and will have that great memory forever. Please take note that our prices are not ridiculous at all. We have a package that will fit any wedding or budget. We offer at least 5 different packages and each one of them can be adjusted to suit your specific needs

For much too long now the standard of wedding photography in South Africa is way too average. Avant Garde Wedding Photography and a handful of other wedding photographers in South Africa are complying with international standards and improving our quality of work to a new level of excellence. 

Our clientele.

Although we see some of our clients before the wedding, we meet about 70% of the bridal couples for the first time on their wedding day. Many of them are too busy at work as well as planning the wedding or they're professionals who just don't have the time come and see the wedding photographer beforehand. 

Thanks to the Internet it makes corresponding a lot easier and most of our bookings are done online. Our website is our most effective and successful marketing tool because the bride and groom can look at our portfolio online and decide from there if we will be able to fulfill their wedding photography needs.   

Up and until this day we have never placed or paid for any advertising in a magazine or any printed media for that matter. All our business is generated from this website and word of mouth.  

Our equipment.

We shoot all digital now and use only the very best in high-end photographic equipment. Our current line up of digital cameras consists of Nikon's top models - the Nikon D7000 of which we have 2.

You may say that it's not the camera but the photographer that makes a great picture? Yes, it's partly true but keep in mind that the best wedding photographers in the world use only the best equipment that money can buy. It's because there is no substitute for quality and we strive to give our customers the very best wedding pictures and for that we need the best equipment.  

It's safe to say that professional wedding photographers spend much more on equipment these days than 10 years ago. We constantly upgrade our equipment to be at the leading edge of technology. 

Picture editing.

We spend an enormous amount of time afterwards editing each and every picture in Photoshop to ensure the best possible quality. We calibrate and match colours and lighting so that each picture has the same vibrancy. We create borders around the pictures and create stunning special effects without making the pictures look cheap and average.  

The Avant Garde Wedding Album.

Our unique Avant Garde wedding albums consist of a magazine type layout and are 30cm x 60cm in size and printed at a top photographic lab on the highest possible quality photo paper. These wedding albums are not standard photo albums. Every page is a work of art - a masterpiece, just like you on your wedding day. Each album's genuine leather is hand-picked by us with colours available in black, dark brown & white.

Unlike flat bound albums that can crack or tear beyond repair, our Albums can be repaired even if a single page gets damaged. We will gladly show you how tough our albums and glueing methods are when you arrange a meeting with us.

Please note that the Avant Garde packages does not include a designer album. Instead it includes a Henzo album with black pages on which the pictures gets glued to the pages.  It reduces the costs of the package but be assured that the overall image quality is not affected at all. You will still receive the same high quality images. The only difference is the album. The designer albums or the individual pictures are both printed on exactly the same photographic paper and machine at the same printing lab. 

We know you will be exited and can't wait to see your wedding album. Since this is a creative process we kindly request that you please be patient while we prepare and print your wedding album. Every designer album is hand made and due to us doing extensive editing on each and every picture to ensure the highest possible quality we need enough time. 

More about Lighting.

In every field of photography light is the most important factor of all. Although we can shoot at any location with or without available light we've learned through our experience where and when the best light will be to ensure that the most natural light is utilized. It's a known fact that more natural light makes better pictures.  

By natural light we don't only mean sunlight. We make use of any ambient light. We explain all of these factors to our clients so that they can arrange their wedding plans according to it to make sure that they don't get married too late and lose the available light.
